EPCOT Festivals

EPCOT at Walt Disney World is home to four annual festivals, showcasing the arts, springtime, international cuisine, and holiday celebrations. As the lead designer for theme park guidemaps, I was tasked with incorporating both standard and special festival offerings into a new overlay every few months. In addition, I’ve created in-park signage as well as the highly-anticipated, 40-page festival passport. All of these projects require close partnership with many stakeholders, including in Walt Disney Imagineering, Food & Beverage, and Park Operations.

Disney Villains After Hours

Summer 2019 brought a brand new special event to Magic Kingdom: Disney Villains After Hours. For the inaugural season, I developed event guides and wristbands based solely on the limited concept art and assets available at the time. With its return the following year, I revisited the collection and pushed the design to further match the look and feel of the event. The sharp angles, electric colors, and specialty finishes truly set this collection apart and were very well received by both event leadership and guests alike.

Disney Race Medallions

From 2016 to 2019, I’ve had the opportunity to design the medallions for several Walt Disney World Cast Member events, like the annual Cast & Family 5K Fun Run. The challenge of this project is to capture the look and feel of a Disney Character in one, gender-neutral design. A style had also been set by another designer for the 2014 and 2015 events, which I tried to continue with my additions to the series. These deliverables, being 3D PVC rubber, also required special design considerations in production capabilities.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler

Originally assigned as a simple refresh to an existing, more generic piece, I took the opportunity in 2019 to completely overhaul the design for the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Tasting Sampler. This included developing a logo and brand, which I then applied to a pocket-sized offering guide and in-park signage. The rebrand was so well received, that I was asked to create an original style guide so that tactics such as internal communication, weekly Times Guides, and even digital value cards (Disney Gift Cards) could be updated to match.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

An annual fall favorite, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party transforms the Magic Kingdom to delight guests of all ages. 2019 brought two new headlining experiences in Cruella’s Halloween Hideaway and the Disney Not-So-Spooky Spectacular. For each of these, I created a series of wristbands which were both in-theme and identifiable. For the event guide, I developed a fresh set of custom icons to mark special offerings and featured new art of the debuting spectacular provided by Disney Parks Live Entertainment on the cover.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Perhaps the most anticipated opening in Disney’s Hollywood Studios history, the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019 brought with it opportunities for unique in-park collateral. While our Communication Strategy team collaborated heavily on each piece of the collection, including the opening-day commemorative map, I was tasked with leading the design of the dual-purpose “Traveler’s Guide.” The pocket guide highlighted both “on-planet” and “off-planet” Star Wars offerings and was printed on a natural fiber stock to bring an authentic feel.
